Does it have an adjustment where you can change angle as well as height. My windvest was terrible til I got the angle right and got even better with a tank lift and a pouch over the risers.
I use a barrell bag on my handlebars instead of a windshield now. The bike came with a windshield, but I haven't ever used it. the barrel bag works great on long trips. No buffetting with the bag. I might put the shield on one day, but for now it sits in the closet. I don't even know how tall it is. LOL
Those windshields are funny things. There are days when mine works great and days when I wanted to throw it in a ditch somewhere. There is a fine line on the up and down adjustment where the buffeting seems to be less.
Another thing I've realized is that I may have expected too much from a windshield. Now matter how hard we try we will never get the wind protection a Gold Wing or BMW does.
On my recent trip I found the windshield to be invaluable for 2 reasons: rain and butterflies. At the end of a 600 mile day I would literally scrape the bugs off of the windshield- bugs that would have been on me had the windshield not been there.
I agree with most of the fellas on here- I'm not a big fan of the windshield BUT it sure is handy when you're serious about going a long way in relative comfort. Just don't expect too much in the way of a quiet ride with it.
OK I give up what the hell is a wind vest?, I know what a fairing is, a fly screen, a windshield but until I got a Harley I'd never heard of a wind vest.
Keith, I have a low profile quick release on an 06 fxdi. Road rt. 80 today most of 200mile trip between 70-80 mph. No problem. I have my windshield set at top of forks. I wear a helmet and goggles. Except for the fog had a good ride. Could not cruise much over 60 mph before installing windshield. The shield has kept bugs off of glasses, which to me means wind is being directed over my head. There is wind on my face, but I think that is pressure difference because wind not hitting gut or chest then coming over top of shield.
I am about 5'9', short legs, long torso. You look like you may be taller then I, and a full windshield may be needed. The quick release still seems to be the best bet.
Keith, you might be too tall for a low profile wind shield. I'm 6ft. I tried the low profile on my wide glide. It didn't work. The standard height was the way to go. I love it.
