My two best friends have an '06 Night Train and an '07 Deuce. Both fine lookin rides with no where near the handling of my '10 FXDC. And now that I've gone with Ricor's front and rear I can't think anything I could make me any happier than my Dyna.
lol! I got the bashing for not noticing the shocks, well my excuse was I had shocks my whole life and was in love with it as soon as I saw it, looked for 2 months and I do I admit I was not a experienced Harley owner, this is my first one. Thanks for sharing that it handles better than a softail since I had a crotchrocket and loved the twisties. I will trade for a day with a friend of mine who has a softtail and maybe he will change also and buy a dyna.
Looks like I'm about the only Dyna guy on here to say, sometimes, has nothing to do with the shocks. Myself I like the looks of the shocks. In fact, I love just about every thing about my 10 Dyna. My one and only problem is motor vibration. Now with 5400 miles on her this vibe problem has been driving me nuts all Summer. My Dyna vibrates more then my solid mount Sportster did at certain rpm. Been to 3 Dealers and all they say is it's normal, or yes yours dose vibrate a bit more then some but that's normal. I have 2 friend's with Dyna's, 99 and a 07 and both of there motors run a lot smoother then mine, when I tell the Dealers this they just say yep, that's normal for Dyna's. I'm having it Dyno tuned this weekend and I'm praying it will help smooth out the motor, if it helps, then I could change my answer to no.
I'm surprised at all the "Sloptail" bashing. I'm a FatBoy guy and would not trade it for anything. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Dynas, and would never ridicule them, as I think they are terrific bikes. At one time I had my eye on a Dyna CVO (too expensive though for this guy).
My bike is new and rides as though it it literally a freight train on tracks. Maybe these bikes get sloppy with age? Sloptail? It feels as though the frame is made out of titanium I-beams. I've ridden other bikes & Harleys and seriously don't get this slop thing. Is it mostly with older series bikes or as the suspension tires out? What gives? This thing is a ROCK, I tell you...
I like my Dyna, I ride it every day to & from work... It parks next to another Dyna, thats lowered & blacked out. He rides every day to & from work. We say hi thats about it. There are soft tails.. they show up when its sunny.. they sit & talk about that ride from last month down to the coffee shop.
I'm not a hardcore biker, I knew what shocks are & where they are. I love the looks of a NT but it rides.. umm so-so. If H-D but a Cross-bones "treatment"/ springer on a Dyna I'd buy it.
I think you can tell from my post.... I like my Dyna & I think you'll finding asking your question in a DYNA forum rather a DUMB thing to do. But thats just my two cents.
