Hello all Dyna owners, today I just brought home a 2011 Denim Black Streetbob. Ive been riding a GSXR for the last 4ish years, and I wanted something more sexy...So I upgraded to the bob...Ive always loved how OG bobbers were styled, so then I saw the HD FXDB, it was like duh no brainer. However, im very new to the whole cruiser scene, and theres no use acting like im mr mechanic. Im just an artillery soldier who loves to ride comfortably. So to all the streetbob owners, what are some must haves for you on the bikes you all own? Looking to get an old school look, while maximizing comfort and performance, THAT wont void the HD stealership warranty. Thanks alot and im looking forward to participating in such a gnarly group of people.
i also came from riding sport bikes, the first thing i got for mine is a set of loud pipes. v&h short shots. now that you dont have the pick up and go to get out of the way of people not paying attention, its nice to make them hear you.
top 3 mods i have done:
1.Suspension upgrades (shocks, progressive front with 15w fork oil, steering stabilizer, forkbrace, *soon true track)
2.forward controls
3. motor work
sky is the limit though bud... everyone does something a bit different... if you have a new bob... here is one of my customers bikes... it is lowered front and rear (burley), silowette seat, slip ons, blacked out bars and wheels, removed rear reflectors... (also not pictured but just blacked out a 6.5 in lamp and installed that on his scoot)
I would advise you to stay away from the short shots... exp if you came from sport bikes... i still ride a sport bike so i know where you are coming from... the short shots are killers on torque... go side shots with the power chamber at least if you want really short pipes... i have V&H big rad with BCT baffles in it... with the motor work, it is crazy loud... so much so that i am going to the quiet baffles this winter... no one likes to ride by me
One of the best things to do is to just check out everybody elses bobs and see what you like and don't like. Lots of creative people on this forum. They have given me tons of ideas. Lots of nice bikes. Hope that helps.
Pipes, AC, Power Commander or other aftermarket tuning device. Or what ever you like. Seems like seats, bars, and more black are big changes around here. Just research it well, so as not to buy stuff, then not like it. Congrat's and welcome to the forum.
Thanks guys! I actually just got done using some of this forums advice. Lol I used the rustoleum bed liner to do my air cover, horn covers and rear mirrors! Once i am able to post pics ill do so asap! I was looking at forward controls definitely, Im still getting used to the 8"apes, but themore I ride the bike id imagine ill get used to them! The stock exhaust seems to have a ton of unused pressure...very dull and blah unless im going all open down the highway. I really like your pipes JRK, but I wanna go for more "old school" look. Do the sideshots come with turnouts? I appreciate all your help guys, makes me really glad I left the sportbike realm
