Howdy all.. new to the forum and just pickedup a 2008 Fat bob. Love it, just have one issue wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and had any feed back. My leg position eith my left leg is fine and comfortable, but my right thigh hits the rear portion of the stock air filter cover. I am currently lookingnt the HD S/E heavy breather type filter, hoping to move it foward to allow my right leg to be more comfortable. Again looking foor feedback if anyone has experienced this and any mods they have done.. thanks all...matty
Save some money and get yourself a round air filter cover that might do the trick… look in my garage and you’ll see what I’m talking about. They are fairly priced, a simple and clean look. You can also see if relocating the foot controls forward a bit, or changing seat that makes you seat further back might help you… Good luck
*************** Get with local dealer, maybe they will place a couple different types of low profile seats for you to test out on your bike or one in the shop to see what is best.*************
It's all in the geometry of your seat, leg, bars. . . . The Heavy Breather will probably present less or no problem to you. . . . It's fine with my solo seat, and with my Dual Tour seat my knee just barely touches it on occasion. Stock seat and it was more in the way.
I had the same problem, it annoyed the hell out of me. I put on a Forcewinder, which is the same basic shape as the Heavy Breather, and haven't had a problem since. If I had it to do again I would probably try one of the Roland Sands air cleaners just because I like the looks and there are a ton of people with Heavy Breather type air cleaners running around.
