Bell 500 almost done
Almost done with my paint mod to my Bell Custom. Spent most of the day masking and painting, just got to clear it now. Hope I don't screw that part up... I'll post more pics once it's done if anyone's interested.

Unfortunately these are the only other photos I took. I think I'll be getting another one for the wife and do something similar but with different colors. I'll document that one better.
I used the Bell Custom 500 in silver flake, this was a great base to start with. Had to wet sand helmet first and then started masking off with fine-line tape (1/4" and 1/8") after finding the center-line of the helmet to work from. I used water based airbrush paint (Pearlized Black and Transparent Sun Gold) made by Auto Air Colors and used an airbrush from Harbor Freight for all of it.
Masking was the biggest pain but once that was done it went fairly quick. Laid down the gold and then I used a homemade stencil for the scales and then some transfer paper for the "sun rays".
Hopefully I can get to clear coating it this week, going to use a 2-part clear in a rattle can. I'll post up more pics when I'm done.

Hot Bike Mag did a article on this process a few issues ago, they also use the same helmet. I have thought about doing something like this.
