I went with the Custom.
The Wideglide is a damn beautiful bike imho, I was just talking to my brother about how cool it looks, imho, two days ago.

Differences:
I believe the custom has longer shocks and more lean angle, 12.00 in the WG and 12.58 on the FXDC.
The Custom has more chrome.
The wideglide has more rake, 34-WG vs 29-FXDC, (fairly sure on numbers but do your research).
The wideglide has a 21 inch front tire, FXDC has a 19 inch.
The custom may have a bigger fuel tank, not sure about this, (do your research). Stats list it as WG with 4.7 gallon and FXDC with 4.97 gallon.

If you like the rake then I think the Wideglide is your best bet.

Re: the rear fender:
You can clean up the custom's rear fender and clean it up very easily, but it will cost extra cash of course.

Heck, you can modify pretty much anything on these bikes. Get the bike that has more of what you want "pre modification". That way you can keep more money in your pocket.

Seems like the FXDC would be more nimble/agile due to its shorter rake and longer shocks. I have never ridden a Wideglide so I can't speak to this personally. I know that my Custom rides great.
Good luck with what ever bike you choose, I dont think you can go wrong here.

One more last piece of free advice: Get the bike that makes you smile the most. I call it the 'Grin Factor'. The bike that gives you that..."my bike kicks azz feeling".

Cheers,

Tom

For about $130 you can put highway pegs on the FXDC. Then you have two places for your feet. It's what I did.

Which one catches you eye first when you walk in to the dealer.....that would really tell you which one is the right one for you.

AFTER you rode both, which one did you like more? If you didnt you should

With so many dealers offering demo rides, I wouldnt buy one until I rode it.

Like Redrubicon said, first ride them both and then buy the one you like the most. I was completely infatuated with the 2010 Wide Glide the moment I saw it, and I still think it is a beautiful bike (IMHO the best looking stock bike the MOCO makes). However, when I rode the Fat Bob, I knew it was the bike for me. So take advantage of the Demo Days at your dealer, or better yet, rent one for a weekend and log some serious saddle time. Then you'll know.

I had an 09 FXDC and really dug it, i really wanted an 08 WG but could not locate one. I personally don't like the new WG looks, but if you lije it, ride it and see...now the FXDC was great, just had an opportunity to jump on my Fatboy, which I did. Can't go wrong with either, however, as the Dyna's rule as far as handling goes ....good luck !!!

It's pretty simple actually. Take them both out for a nice stroll and see which one moves you more. If you're convinced that "x" bike is better than "y" bike for you, then get "x" for you.

Having said that: FWIW, I bought the 2010 Custom. But that's because after researching them, seeing how people were modding them, and riding a few bikes...that's the one that worked best for me. This is my first winter with it, and with the money I saved I plan on making it mine. Then again, I had forward controls and a few other goodies put on before I even picked it up.

If you plan to mod the bike you do decide to get...do some google and forum searches on each bikes modding of bars, exhaust, seats, etc and see what people are doing. I did and that helped me immensely in deciding which way I wanted to go.

Good luck with whichever you choose.
