Default Some New Changes to my '97 Wide Glide

Finally got my Harley back from the shop. Made a few changes to it:

1 - New paint
2 - Fuel gauge, welded closed, removed speedo and welded middle of tank smooth; tab welded in for satellite radio
3 - Dakota Digital speedo/tach combo
4 - Ignition moved to OEM horn location
5 - Horn moved to under seat
6 - Softail fender and back rest
7 - Fender horns cut and re-welded to fit 180 rear tire
8 - HD Tri-bar LED tailight
9 - Motor Diamond Cut
10 - Front Fender is aftermarket (purchased from J&P - do not know manufacturer)
11 - Ohlins shocks; chromed
12 - S&S Super G A/C
13 - Big PSI Carb: http://www.psicarbs.com/home.php
14 - All ***** Starter, 1.6kW
15 - Naked Girl "Gremlin Bell"

Still have to do: install LED lights
Future: new seat, motor work, Doherty Machine A/C - open, HID headlight, heated grips

Great job. Did you do the work? Any details on what was involved with the 180 series rear tire? I saw the fender struts were cut and re-welded, how about the swingarm, pulleys,etc. Any more detail on what was needed to make the wider softail rear fender fit.

I did not do the work - not that skilled.

* Swingarm = stock
* Pulley = new, used when I was running a 150 and 1 1/8" belt
* Softail fender = Stock, just lined it up for the holes on the struts and seat
* Spacers used to align everything up

I had them add some metal to the fender closer to the front of the swingarm to lessen the amount of debris getting thrown up in that area.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping Harley would have built what you now have when they changed the styling back in 2006. A 180 series tire is as wide as you need to go before you start getting the negative handling characteristics of rear steer from a wider tire. I was disappointed with the styling of the 2006-2008. I have liked the looks of the bobtail fender since the Schwinn Stingray. If you are a bobtail fender fan the 2006 - 2008 rear fender was a real let down. The new Wide Glide styling just makes the bike look like a hundred other smaller brand production bikes...at least the back half of the bike, the main difference is in the rake and front fork length of the others.

Have any close up pics of the tire/fender clearance and tire/swingarm clearance at the closest points? Did they cut an opening in the Softail fender to accept the Dyna close out panel (plastic cover) for access to the wiring harness, or does the rear fender now need to be removed to gain access to the harness?

Newbie to the forum. Why can't I view images when they are posted like those above? I get an error message saying I can't view the page.

I get this message:
