I took my bike out yesterday and it didn't run very good. Never had that problem before, it didn't have that zip it useally has when going through the gears. I noticed more vibration than useall in the engine area and front end too. I could really feel it on a streach of road that was smooth as glass. any of you guys experiance this sometimes ?The V&H slip on mufflers is the only thing I have done to it and thats been about 5,000 miles ago and still using the same BP Gas. The exhaust did seem to be popping mone than usual but not that much. you guys have any ideas ? I havent ridden it since that day.
Did you get a tuner or retune with the slip ons? They are open and flow a lot better than stock, the V&H manual calls for a retune with their slip ons. I would check the spark plugs, you might be running lean.
Bad gas, my friend. ALWAYS buy the best fuel you can...91 octane MINIMUM....if you are in the middle of nowhere and HAVE to buy low grade, just take it easy on the throttle until you can put good fuel back in....I had to do that on 87octane, and was able to ride pretty hard on it, as I wasn't getting any detonation, but it wasn't a hot day either.
It's just the gas dude. No worries. Pour some gas additive in there and then add gas to mix it in, and ride it for a bit....it will clean right back up. Sometimes, gas stations have gas that gets old. No biggie, but make sure you tighten up your motor mounts while you're at it...they may be a bit loose as well....which will cause a vibration.
I may not know much...but I know these Superglides!
