I have a 2000 Super Glide FXD, my first Harley that I picked up in July of this year. I've searched, but couldn't find anything (even thought I would think this might be a common question), so sorry if this is a redundant one...
Does anyone know if a 21" wheel would fit the front of my bike? I have the 19", but would like to start working on getting a more aggressive stance. I'm not really one to put bikes away in the winter, so I will probably ride when it's not ridiculously cold out (or ice and snow on the ground), but I have some mods planned for the inbetween rides - 2" tank lift, progressives on the rear, and the 21". It already has mid-size apes on it, do I'm good there. I just want to get it raised a little in the front, and lowered some in the rear.
you can make any wheel work with the right amount of time put into it....u can relace the hoop to your hub with new spokes or get a wheel from someone like black bike wheels or anyother wheel shop or get a complete wheel and make spacers etc....
Thanks. I was thinking about just buying a used 21" rim when one came available. I just wasn't sure if it was a direct swap with the 19" rim or not. Enough room under the fender? Do I need a spacer between the forks?
It will fit perfect. There's plenty of gap under the stock fender to fit the 21. I suspect Harley did that on purpose. That was one of the first mods I did and a huge improvement in style...IMHO. A 21 won't handle and track quite like the old 19, but its a worthwhile modification.
If you have the stock narrow glide front end, then just pick up a 21 inch from a 2000 and up sportster, the fender is no issue, i have done this and looks great.
