When I compare my fairing to, say, a Street Glide, my fairing sits back on an angle, whereas the Street Glide seems to be sitting more straight up.[/quote]
I noticed that with my Shovel fairing. It is pulled back more that an FLHT or Street Guide fairing. They are prob tilted forward for radio and speaker clearance. The difference really showed when I installed a radio fairing for a Softail. The radio fairing blocked the low forward view and a lot of wind got to me from under the fairing. First 2 pics are the Softail fairing. I decided to make my Shovel fairing into a radio fairing.
Here are the brackets on the forks. To get them it to work, I had to bolt the bottom brackets on to the fairing.
ALOT of screwing around, but after loosing up the mounts and then loosening up where the brackets actually bolt to the fairing, and pulling/tugging, I got it on there like it is supposed to be.
I had to get a 3 inch long bolt for the headlight and use a 1 inch and a 1/2 inch chromed spacer. The 3 inch bolt is stainless. Expensive, but I feel good about using it.
Here are some completed pics:
The way things worked out, the 12" screen is just perfect. It is at the bridge of my nose height wise.
Comments are welcome.
