Default Question for Mudpuddle/ your pipes

Hey Mudpuddle those are some sweet pipes you have on your bike. I was wondering how loud they are and did they hurt the mpg. Also what kind of back pressure do they give. And if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay parts and installation. Thanks and once again and nice looking bike. Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to harleys.

No need to apologize for questions SHU. This forum thrives on Q and A.

Yeah, they are loud, not too bad till about 3-4 thou rpm.

Don't know about the gas milage.

back pressure ?? they're short, they're baffled sorta. Notta lotta.

installation, free, couple hours. Pipes cost around 350, wrap, around 50.

You didn't ask, but they are VandH ShortShotStaggereds.
Goin to 2into1 real soon.

Thanks for the compliment on the bike.

hey mud,

what are you using for ecm/fuel map management? i hope to switch out my SEII slip-ons at some point with the V&H staggered shorts like yours...i have that silly-*** H-D download in my ecm now, which i suppose is sufficient for the SE pkg, but once i put something else on there i know i'm gonna have to change the map...everyone on here has an opinion about SERT/DFO/fuelpak/PCIII, was just wondering what is YOURS?

THANKS!

STeve

STeve, I'm using the SERT.

I really like it. Never even considered the others,
and have no hands on experience with them.

One of the main factors for me is the fact that the RaceTuner
is working by rearranging brain cells, as opposed to fooling the brain.

You can get the pipes from Eastern performance for less than $300 to your door.

Invest in the "quiet" baffles, which give more backpressure and a deeper tone...much better sounding IMO. The baffles are $25 each.

Mud,
Is the wrap just for looks or does it aid in function. Was it tough to make the wrap even when you installed it and does it ever come loose and require re-wrap? Either way they look great. Best lookin pipes I have ever seen. I'm looking to get a 07 street bob in the near future and I am diffenately going to do something like that with the black wrap but I'm trying to find something that gives a lttle better back pressure for engine life.

Patch, I agree. I really like the looks (BEST, not so sure about that).

But yeah I'm goin for jugs, heads, cams, and pipes in the very near future.

May keep these pipes and change em out now and then.

The SERT makes that easy enough, dyno to both sets of pipes.
Then a simple mouse click to remap.

How's your scooter runnin?? And how bout a pic or two??
