I have a 2008 street bob that is currently running a 160/70/17 back tyre on a 5.5 inch rim. Is it possible to put a 200mm Avon or metzeler rear tyre on this rim?

hi, you need to change the rim - the maximum size you can fit in is 6", therefore the size required is between 5.5 - 6" - any less than 5.5 and the tire doesnt fit right.
I used a 5.75" on mine running a Avon Fat Freddie 200/55/18
Here's some more pics of a 200 on a SB. My SB is an '07. First 2 pics show it on the rack at the shop during the process. Last pic is after struts have been spread and a RK fender installed.
EDIT: Oops! Thanks SURFOR Chop for reminding me. Wheel is a 6in '08 Fat Boy wheel. Caliper was modified and spacers made.
if you have the stock rim it is a 4.5" rim. You will need to replace with a 5.5" or greater. But it will fit a 200 without mods (As Tat2u said many of us have done it).

Of course, that rear wheel is a Fat Boy rim, vice the stock Street Bob rim ....
