I prefer to keep my RK resting with a tender on it in my garage. I put some stabil in it to keep the fuel fresh and when the weather dictates I can unplug it and go for a spin. That way I avoid the inevitable wait in the spring for someone else to put it back in riding shape for me. All I have to do is check the tires (air pressure) and ride away.

I like the idea of it being in the dealer's basement - rather than my cold garage. Only thing is - he said the battery may go dead in that they may have to move the bikes around at times - can't consistently keep on the trickle charge. Any thoughts on this?? Thanks!

All of the above suggestions for storage are excellent, as are the opinions offered about your original question.

Now I want to apologize in advance if this sounds sarcastic or combative-it isn't meant to. But the question that occurs to me is how could anyone possibly not want to have that bike home with them? Even if you just go out and crank it once a week and look and listen to it a few minutes, it would be uplifting.

I know it's just me and everyone's different but if I were faced with that choice and was even considering leaving it at the dealer's-well, I'd have to ask myself if I really wanted or needed the bike.

Again, it's just me I guess.

If you bought it at BRIANS, you can go there anytime you want to check it out. I bought a 2010 fxdc on 2/11/10 and left it there till the end of march, when the weather started to get warm. But then i had to squeeze it in a small shed with a xl 1200c that i have also. That was a bit*h,so i had to buy a bigger shed, now they both have a nice big home all to themselves. As for the battery dieing i had no problem's starting it when i picked it up.

It would be one thing if it were stored and left alone but if they will be moving it around there's always the chance something could happen to it (dropped, another bike banged against it etc...).

The dealer might scratch it moving it around. Look it over real good before taking possession if you do leave it. I'd want that baby home . Buy a nice winter suit and enjoy.

I have a big warm garage you can put it in for free. I'll even ride it once in a while for you so it will be broke in when you do decide to ride it. That's the kind of nice guy I am....hehehe
