Wow I never thought this could be that interesting of a subject. So basically here it is, spend a couple or three hundred on a shed of some kind or anywhere from $20 to $100 on a cover.
Lost our garage this year and had to move into an apartment - 2 brand new bikes are being stored in a storage unit few miles away. Not only did they get put away when they were dirty - got cold here unexpectedly and fast - but are just as worried about moisture build up and - of course - the critters crawling and making homes in our new rides. We used dryer sheets in our pipes, covered my bike with a cover, hubby's bike with a couple sheets, and I guess when spring comes, we're in for a lot of cleaning. Guess a lot of us are in the same boat. At least we'll all have something to ride once this weather warms back up. Come on spring!!!
Mine sleeps outside as of right now and I use a dowco guardian, key is to obsessively keep it clean and Ride It Often. Letting it sit will cause bolt heads to rust and oxidize. WD40 or silicone spray is your friend.
Are you putting the bike away like as winter storage for a couple/few months?
Or are you looking for a more permanent storage solution?
I can't tell because on a map it looks like you live in an area where you can ride year round but the way I read your post I thought you might be putting the bike away for some time.
Either way, if it were me, I'd probably pay these guys $35/month and get a 4' x 6' storage unit. I'm sure not the most popular answer but I know it's secure and dry and as long as I have 24hr access and it's not too far from home I'd be fine with that until my living situation changed.
