Right when I got out of service I had a small apartment with no storage for a bike. I just drove mine right in the living room. I'm sure I wasn't supposed to, but I put some old rugs on the floor so it didn't cause any damage. Took up a lot of room, but at least when I wasn't riding I could just look at it and it was right there with me. Did the rental storage building thing for a while, but they didn't have 24 hour access, so that sucked.

I am not sure I could get away with that. Someone would notice me pulling it into the elevator and taking it up 10 floors.

Considering you must be able to ride year round, and you are probably not buying a house, that little motoshell looks like the best choice although I would be worried about someone stealing it and your bike....but if you are living where you might be for a while and there is room, build yourself a small wooden shed sealed up (weathertite) good. You might even be able to run some power to it via a cord or a wire from a nearby powersource. That would give you a light and a plug out there. If you have someplace where you can scavenge some good used lumber and a salvage yard where you can scarf up some wire cheap you might be able to get it done for a song. When done scavenge some exterior paint to cover the wood sides up, add a good locking assy, and hoila! Its not hard and can be done on the cheap side with a little effort.
