Default what next?

I just got a 2007 FXD and have been riding a big fat bagger so I hated the crunched up feel of the little buckhorns and mid controls. I just installed a set of Kury forwards and it's way way better, but still feels like I'm a little folded...kinda like the foot pegs would be better if they were a little lower? I did put big ISO Wings on instead of stock pegs... I will try the stock pegs tomorrow to see if they feel better. Is there a seat/handlebar/forward combination that is most comfortable for a 5'10 200 pound old geezer that wants to be comfy? I like the way my foot feels on the side with the shifter but the brake pedal seems to be too close to my foot on the right side...? I may have to adjust it too. I know it will most likely take getting use to this setup but wanted some opinions. I know that when I changed seats on the Roady it made a world of difference how it felt when I rode. Thanks! Bob

Mustang Vintage Solo for the seat.
Kuryakyn Passenger Boards. Left the Mid pegs for another foot option.

Most recently installed Kuryakyns Bagger Boards.
Like it a lot..

thanks! the boards look lower and more like the boards on my old bike but how did you fit bagger boards on the forwards? The only Kury big boards I have seen are not made for our bikes and are also high $$$ without any mounts...? Does the Mustang seat move you up or forward or what? Thanks again! Bob EDIT- I went out and took the huge Iso Wings off and put the stock foot pegs...it's way better... I repositioned the handlebars a little too so I think the 'package' will work ...it's amazing what a little tweak can make...I;m also getting a Mustang wide solo...guess it's the most comfy of the mustang seats?

I'm about the same size, just a tad heavier at 225. I run HD forward controls, Kury swing-wing pegs, Mustang wide vintage solo and fat mini apes. Very comfortable ride.....

First, adjust your brake pedal.

I probably have a longer inseam, so I went with Kury extended forwards. I then tried different footpegs, then footpegs with heel rests, then finally footboards. My current footboards are from JC Whitney and cost $112 before the recent price hike. They seem to work better for me, especially at high speeds where my boot soles no longer have to fight the wind to stay planted.

I chose the Mustang wide seat for comfort. I like it and the GF likes the matching wide passenger seat behind it....I can switch between the two seating arrangements in less than two minutes.

I also experimented a bit with my bars. I tried different riser heights and bar widths. I also removed the factory bar clamp/speedo mount bracket, fabbed up an inside-the-riser mount for the speedometer and moved the idiot lights to the console.

I'm still tweaking, but my ergos now fit, my controls are easy to reach, the gauges are handy to see, and I'm content with the overall comfort.

I did do some suspension upgrades and they made a big difference, also.

thanks guys...looks like the Mustang is a winner for a seat...had one on a 1500 Intruder, then an Ultimate on my last bike...man what a comfy seat, but they don't make one for our bike. Both of your bikes look great! Bob

I like the Mustang Wide, too, on my '07 Street Bob.

couldn't decide between the narrow and wide Mustang...seems like the wide is the most popular...sweet old bike... I do miss the sound of the oldies... Bob
