Default Changes for my short legs

Attached are some images of 2 things I did to make my bike more comfortable. I have a 29" inch inseam and like riding with my legs more forward. Forward controls were out so... I had the seat modified by Mean City Cycles. They lowered the seat 1" and moved me forward 1". It is so much more comfortable than stock. I then added the adjustable highway pegs from HD. They fit me perfectly. The shifter and the brake act as stirrups. Just thought some other short folks might be interested in possible changes.

Pretty bike.

To those same highway pegs I added a 3rd rearward position by carefully sub-drilling right alongside the factory hole. It's easy on a drill press. This brought the pegs back more than 1". They had been just out of comfortable reach, for me, using the stock 2-up Super Glide saddle.

Mean City did the same treatment for me on a Street Bob solo saddle, which will replace the 2-up when I install my hard luggage. That or a Mustang Vintage Solo. I'll try them both on some multi-day trips before deciding. For now, the 2-up supports my throw-overs and sissy-bar mounted soft luggage (photo).

Mean City? About $100, IIRC. But you should have them quote you.

I second that, Mean City does outstanding work. They hooked up my Reach seat and what a difference. It allowed me to turn my scoot from mids to semi forwards, by being able to shift and brake with my heels, and i'm shorter than you. I put down the mid pegs only on long trips. Cannot beat Mean City for the money...

Way to go! Lowering the saddle 1" is a way better mod than lowering the suspension by 1". I don't care how tall or short you are, every inch of suspension that you have is too valuable to give up.

Me, I'm tall, so I got away with raising my suspension an inch. Now I have better cornering, better control and way better and faster travel over rough roads. Yeah, the quality of the suspension also make a huge difference.

I also noticed last night, when checking out my newest and second 2011 J&P catalog, that they make a couple of adapters to shorten the reach to forward controls.

I love my forward controls too much to change them. I just keep telling myself "I'll get taller" (which I know is false) and deal with the discomfort.

Nice job!

Been looking into lowering blocks or lower shocks to gain about 1", but was concerned about reducing travel. I didn't know they could modify the seat.

Great idea!
