Are you adding 2.5 quarts or 3 quarts during oil change ? You should only add 3 quarts if you split the cases [ rebuild]. The bike holds 3qts, but you can only drain out 2.5 quarts during a ordinary oil change. You may already know this, but i know MANY folks who think they are supposed to add 3 qts and they lose oil due to it misting out the breather due to being over filled by a half qt .
I run mine in the middle of the marks cold, 2 1/2 quarts on an oil change. If you put what the manual says to put it will blow some into the breather until it is happy.
Do not screw the dip stick back into the fill tube when you check it just push it in to the first thread. Do this after every ride about 10 times and see how much your measurements differ. Keep a log of each measurement and mileage and dates to show your dealer if you in fact are consuming oil.
Ok...now I'm confused. I thought we are supposed to screw the dip stick completely back into the filler tube with the bike on the jiffy stand then take the dip stick back out to check the oil level.
I'll go in a completely different direction here, I stopped using Amsoil for this very reason. When I used it I had to top the oil level up between oil changes. If I used HD dino oil or Mobil 1 sync oil (which I'm currently using) I don't need to add between changes. I have no idea what's different about Amsoil but it seems to burn off.
Alright guys, I appreciate the responses. After the 1000 mile oil change to Amsoil I probably rode the bike another 500 miles before switching out the OEM paper air filter for a K&N replacement. I did notice there was oil saturated on the bottom of the paper filter.
I just took off the air cleaner cover and checked the K&N, I did not notice any oil on the filter itself but the breather hoses had some oil on the ends of them.
I follow the owners manual when doing the oil changes and it says to fill the crankcase approx 2.5 quarts with the oil filter and to check the level COLD or HOT with the cap screwed in tight. I did pull the spark plugs and both are dry and have a golden brown color to them, which I assume is normal.
To reply to Blaster's comment, I spent over $100 bucks to put Amsoil in our Honda car and Chevy Silverado. Both vehicles were at the low mark after checking them about 2-3 weeks later. I switched to Mobil 1 (easier to get anyways) and never had another issue. Thinking about switching out to another brand with the Dyna to see if there is any difference.

Any other ideas?

The other things I noticed with Amsoil were lifter noise at start up during the hottest days of summer. And valve train noise when cruising down the highway. My bike is quiet so it is easy to hear the motor when cruising. Both noises went away when I switched to a different brand of oil.
