Thanks, that's what i was afraid of. Also i read about some kind of tensioner issues.
Thanks again
Jim
Life is too short to fear things like this. My post was meant be honest that the stock bikes run hot. This can be fixed by means suggested here by others. The warranty is "peace of mind". My wife has a 2010 Street Bob and is very happy with it. Don't let "what ifs" suppress your desire to own a ride a great bike. Buy it..cool it down if you wish..and rest easy knowing that if something goes wrong, it is covered by a warranty. For further ease of mind look in to an extended warranty.
Thanks for the responses. I was up till 3 reading about the street bob ( like a kid before Christmas ). I never would have known about some possible issues without reading them on this site. Didn't mean to offend anyone, just thought I would ask people that owned them. This is a big investment for me. Thanks for the quick responses.

09 SB here, 1st Harley & 1st bike. 12K miles and no issues to report. I have had sportscars that cost 5x's as much that didn't bring me as much pleasure. By far the SB is my favorite purchase of all time.

If you want a Harley I think a Street Bob is very good bike. All of the previous posts I agree with the info they gave. In 07 they upgraded the tensioner issue. All harleys from factory are designed to run lean (which runs hotter) to comply with Government emissions requirements. You can do several things (of which have already been mentioned) to make your bike run cooler (and last longer). My best recommendations in order of my personal priority would be, run Fully synthectic oil (not blended). Amsoil is cheaper than the HD synthetic. Get an aftermarket tuner to achieve a richer fuel mix as well as better all round performance. My personal favorite is TTS MasterTune. It's not a piggyback and it is very user friendly.
If you put hi flow pipes on then plan on a better air flow setup. Most any of them work. I have the old SE air intake kit with Vance & Hines pipes. In fact I don't yet have the TTS ( still saving for that ) but rather still have the old SE dealer map download that came with my bike. Runs pretty good, but like the facets of TTS more.
Hope this helps ya. I love the Street Bob. I bought my used 4 months ago.

I think many of us share the "like a kid before Christmas" when it comes to bikes!
No offense taken what so ever. This is great place to educate yourself.
The SB is an excellent platform to build from or leave perfectly stock. It is a hellava machine. I could not be happier with mine. After a few more nods ($$$).
5th bike for me, first Harley and do not regret getting a Street Bob.
The twin cam has been out since 99, your looking at the tail end of production in reality if you look at Harley's past and how long their designs go, they have worked all the small bugs out and it is a solid bike/engine.
Not that the small issues would keep me from buying an earlier model, they are easy to fix and known......
I say if that the Street Bob has your attention, it is the bike you should buy. I went and sat and did enough research that it was the one that called me. In the end....there is enough interchangeability and knowledge that if you did want to go with another look, the Dyna can be made into anything from a chopped up brat/bobber style to a full on touring bike. Good luck.
Just bought my 2011 Street Bob two months ago.. It is my third Harley and I love it. If the Street Bob is what you want then get it. Don't settle for anything else because you can get a deal on it. Don't ask me how I know.
Add a fuel management of some kind and the motor will run richer "more fuel" cooler engine. Synthetic oils also help cool the engine. Maybe you need to look up the Honda line up. Most of their bikes are liquid cooled.
I think they will run hot too at a 3 min red light or a traffic jam.
