Prior USAF with 4 kids on AD now, Daughters in Navy & USMC - Sons in Army and USAF - My kids serve so your kids can bitch and complain about our country
I don't know the part number for the oil cooler, but I sure remember the bus. If memory serves it was the original van before the big 3 jumped on the VAN wagon. A buddy of mine used to have a paper route and I would ride in the back of his VW bus rolling papers for him.
The VW bug always impressed me as a peppy all round economical car with loads of head room for it's size. It still is impressive for $17,000. Course back in my young days you could buy one for $1700 but you could also buy a 396 Chevelle Super Sport for $3600. And as an E-4 in Viet Nam my monthly pay was $454 and that included combat zone pay. I don't think we can really buy more now days, we just carry around more money for the same stuff.

I've got a stepson in the Army. He is on his 16th yr. Used to be Airborne and Special Opps but too many jumps ruined his knees and shoulders and now he is in an Amored unit out at Ft. Hood. When he first joined I tried to talk him into being a cook. I was a combat engineer but always thought the cooks had the best job. They never had to pull guard or go outside the wire.
