I'm currently riding a Softail Deluxe which looks very cool, but scrapes on every second corner and the ride is harsh. I wonder if the comfort and handling of the Dyna might better suit me...
I was put off the Dynas when buying my bike because the mid-mount controls on all the superglides made me too huched up and the forward controls of the FatBob were just the opposite - too far forward (I'm 5'9"ish with 32 inseam).
Just wondering whether I might be better off with a superglide with forward controls? I am missing something?
No, but I would. My softail looks and rides like a hardtail. Partly my fault as I lowered it, but you can lower a Dyna without trashing the ride. Too expensive to do it right with a softail.
If you want a bike that looks like a fake rigid and the handling sucks than get or stay with a softail. Dyna are built to be fun unless it's a wideglide
I've owned alot of bikes. My family owned a Harley shop 30+ years before selling. Out of all the bikes I owned the baggers and the Dyna sport I have now are the best riding.

I have a 2010 fxdc, dealer installed foward controls for me because i didnt like the mid controls. then i sat on it,and i couldent reach the pegs. Im only 5'5" so they put a reach seat on it,and now i can hang my feet over the pegs if i want to. The ride is fantastic, even better with the ol lady on the back, for my size i can throw it around in the twisties and all that other neat stuff, that we can do on our scooters. I git my shocks set all the way up,and i love the way rides and handles.
Oh yea,i forgot to tell ya, i also put 6 1/2" rizers on it to,it gives me all kinds of riding position to ride in,from stright up to laid back and theres still alot of room between me and the ol lady because both of us are pretty small.
