Never had a failure with a Safety Seal plug kit and has been more reliable than a inside patch. Any tire repair, plug or patch, eliminates the tire speed rating. I have no qualms about using a plug in a tire so long as the tire has not been driven on while flat. If the tire has been driven on flat, even for a short period of time, the side wall has been compromised and would highly recommend replacement.

I rode on a plugged rear tire for a season with no issues then in the spring changed both tires out with Metzlers. They are great tires you will like them.

Buy your tires from Motorcycle super store....
On there site is a dealer local button, find a shop near you that will mount the tires.....Not always a HD shop....
I buy from them and they send the tires to a Ducati shop, they charge $50 to do the install....HD wanted $150.

I just bought Metzeler 880s for my front and rear, and they were about $100 and $115 respectively. I bought them from American Classic Motors who were fantastic to deal with. I'll take the wheels off myself, and the local indy will mount and balance them each for about $35 a piece. One local Harley dealer said they wouldn't mount anything that didn't come from them due to "liability" issues, and another dealer said it would cost about $125, but warned me that "I get what I pay for" when I order through the internet.

I will never ride on plugged tire with my bike. I have other things to worry about at 80mph. Not worth crashing for $100 IMO.

Ive gone ton up most of my life. Ive seen a lot of high speed tire failure. So far Ive only had one road failure.
I would NEVER use a plug in a front tire, ever. To get me home, I'd use one in the rear.
As soon as I got home, it would get replaced.

You all are much braver that Me.

Find the $100+ now, or a LOT more for medical bills later. They can last, but are not worth (in every sense of the word) it. To get home only.

Food for thought. Plug a tire on a four wheeler and chances are you have a spare anyway, so big deal. Where is the spare on your scoot? Think middle of the night and middle of nowhere and the plug goes, what now. I have had them last 20000 miles in my truck not taking a chance on my bike Just an opinion.
