New member here - I've had a Harley before, when I was younger, 1978 AMF Sportster, but I pretty much tore it up.
Have been wanting a new 2011 bike, I've always liked the dynas for some reason.
I've been looking at new Super Glide Customs, wondering why they did away with the standard model. So I figger that I would look at used ones too, but there aren't that many Super Glides in the Triad area NC Craigslist to look at, as compared to other models. Could this be because there aren't that many out there, or do bikers tend hold on to them?
There are still some leftover 2010 SuperGlides in some areas of the country. Do a search of dealers outside of your area and see what they have on inventory. Who knows why the MOCO cut the standard models in more than just the Dyna line. Must have been a numbers game when deciding which models to build. I wish you good luck in your search.
Not a bad idea! I was hoping to find one local. For my kind of riding, I ride to work, store, bank, etc. And with the kids, I don't really ride too much on weekends. I guess I could go to the stealership and they could find me one. Our local Harley shops have loads of used bikes! I guess repo's, because most of them are 2010's with very few miles on them..
They wanted $1,000 more dollars from you. I got the 2010 at the end of the model year with a $1K discount under MSRP because they were being discontinued. Saved a bundle. Just have to get used to the silver motor but it is growing on me.
The truth of the matter is that the sportsters are about the same price as the standard Super Glide was. I offered the salesman at Greensboro Harley $17K for a FLSTC Heritage Classic and he looked at me like I had bugs crawling on my face! Then looked some more and sort of kept coming back to the Dynas. The FXDC Custom looks like something I could get in to. Even with the chrome all over.
I bought my 2009 FXDC shortly after the 2010s came out. The dealer took almost $1600
off list and then gave me MSRP on my XL1200C trade-in (Harley's "Ride Free" Sporty
program) so I wound up paying about $1200 to go from an 09 XL1200c to the 09 FXDC
after having ridden the Sporty for 5,000 miles.. .
Might as well buy a Street Bob. All us Super Glide owners are modifying our bikes to look like the Bob. That speedo just has to go. I purchased the 2010 FXD $11,699 $300 off the MSRP price. I like the wheels and the fender on the FDX. I also was just $1,500 short of buying the Bob. Now 5 months later I have the extra money and I have the parts on order.
I have the rear end looking like I want. I like the look of the 2010 FDX rear end over the 2010 FDXB. Now I just need to do the front end. The performance mods are done.
2010 FXDB Tank, Dash, Mini Apes, and cables on order.
