Default Wire connectors.

I am trying to change my bars and cant seem to get the wiring connectors for the bars apart. Is the molex tool absolutely necessary or can I improvise something.

I haven't checked the newer bikes, but they should be running deutsch connectors, not molex. If you look in the male portion, there should be an orange plastic piece, pull that with a small flat head screwdriver. Once that's out, you can depress the tang which captures the pins in the connector. For the female plug, the orange piece is right at the top. Pull that off and same-same. There is a rubber water sealing gasket on the back end of both connectors that you can pull out to make the wire removal easier, but the wires actually pass through the gasket.

If you have a small piece of tubing or a ink pen tube it makes it easier to release the locks. My Molex un locking tool is just a steel tube with a handle.

well I got it apart, started wiring the RSD bars, now I have decided that I will pay someone else to do this ****. My time is worth to much to me to spend that long wiring. I dont like doing it at work but at least when I am messing with electrical on a car I am getting paid.

The bars look amazing but they are an absolute nightmare to get the wires run and doing it with the sleeving isnt an option. Looks like the stealership will get a couple more bucks from me.
