replacing fuel gauge with regular cap ??

Can it be done ?? I haven't popped my cap to see whats under there. Really don't care about the gauge part , I don't trust it and plan on doing a tank lift this winter so it will be wrong anyway. Would really like to replace both caps with some aftermarket

It's not the same threaded mold as the gas cap. You can pry it up easily and see. It's made to be removed.

Zu, I've got these. They are not quite as cheap as buying a gas cap but they do look good and clean the tank up a lot. The install was pretty straight forward.

There are two ways you can do this,the first is what I done to my 02 Fatboy if you need to repaint your tank, welded over the gauge hole.

The next is what I done with my 05 Roadking is to use rubber reduces and a standard fuel cap.

RoadTrain, Could you please provide some detail on the rubber adapter you used for your RoadKing gauge hole? Size? Where did you obtain it? Any problems or issues worth noting? Thanks!
