Got handlebars internellay rewired, parts ordered and went to put throttle on, and the throttle grip does not fit on well, has a snug fit, I put on other side and I have the freeplay! Is it me or should I be bitching where I got it?
Are the bars powder coated or chrome plated? If powder coated, you will probably have to sand down the area that the throttle grip will be a bit if the bars weren't masked before coating. I had to do that to the Santee's I bought. It was no big deal though.
I had the same problem with mine because the powder coaters didn't mask off where the grips go. I sanded it down and it worked fine. The left side was still a little snug, but since it's not meant to move I just used some WD40 and slid it on.
This was my first handlebar project and was f'ing around with the cables yesterday not knowing why my grip was so tight, thinking it was the cables, then it dawned on me, just hope i didnt strecth out the cables. I will say product if They are not polite. If it was my company I would have a stock mock grip to make sure it fit well on every handlebar, just saying!

I completely agree that the company should mask the grip area to ensure a proper fit. With that being said, in my instance, it was a 5 minute fix and I was on my way. You also get what you pay for in terms of quality. When you compare my Santee 1 1/4" Apes at $115 to say Wild 1's at $250 for instance, I would expect to have a absolutely perfect product that doesn't require any additional work to make fit with the Wild 1's. On the other hand, for what I paid for mine, if the only issue is a little sanding of the powder coat to make the grips fit better and the rest of the product is perfect, I have no issues with that.

I would consider sanding powdercoat a normal acceptable thing.

But chrome?????
I didn't notice until now that he said they aren't powder coated. I guess it would be safe to say they are chrome but he didn't say. Could you even sand chrome thinner in the grip area? I would think chrome should be a perfect fit out of the box.
