For some reason, I'm not being allowed to see those pics you posted. My stock shocks ride pretty good but I'm VERY interested in anything that would let me "float" over those bumps. ^_^
Do the 11" progressives lower the stock rear two inches? I believe the stock shocks are 13"...am I right on that?
Does lowering the rear 2" affect the rake and handling on the front end much?
I think you are right about the 13" but it didnt seem to change the handling much, I went with a 21" front wheel at the same time so it definately changed the stance of the bike. The bike feels like it handles better but I havent been on a long ride only about 15-20 miles and no real good corners but next weekend i have a long one planned so if the weather cooperates ill let you know.
So, is it the general consensus that the 412's are an improvement over stock? I was thinking about the 440's as well.
I weight 180 and ride solo with a mix of hwy and backroads. Defenitely don't want to give up comfort. I have an 09 SB, which I believe has 12" shocks. Would probably stay at stock height if it would get me any percentage of comfort.
Not sure about the newer ('06-later) ... but, I understand the '99-'05 had 12.6" standard length ... Low Rider might have been a little lower ....
I think the FXDX had a longer rear shock length ... might have been the 13" or maybe a fraction over that ....
The 11 is just a shade over 1-1/2" lower than stock on the earlier bikes ....
A 21" wheel doesn't change the front end height by much (maybe a half inch ... it fits under the 19" fender) ... and the slight difference in the rear lowering should not affect the handling noticeably ....
Have been thinking of going with a Progressive covered shock ... I saw Chad (redrubicon) had put covered 11" Progressive 412s on his custom build ... looked great ...!
