Default Dealer Complaint

Hey All,

Well I have my first Dealer Issue. I just picked up my Street Bob from the dealer after she had her 2500 mile servise. Bike looked go when they pulled her out. So I hope on and the first thing I notice is that they put 16 miles on it. O.k. Maybe that is part of the test ride after the service.
So I head out and I notice that my fuel guage is all fogged up, maybe from sitting in a cold garage for the two day. O.K. and As I ride home my *** is getting soaked. Did they leave it out in the rain on Friday? Well maybe they washed it with the seat on and it has not dryed. So I get home and I am wiping her down and I notice that the entire bottom of the bike is covered with thick dirt. I know I have never run through dirt, not once. So I call my wife who Works at the dealer and she asked the Sales manager to look into it. So it looks like someone took my ride for a little joy ride.

Well that is all, just wanted to vent. I will talk to them again Monday, and see what is up

You've just clarified just how lucky you are. The fact that your wife works there gives you a MAJOR advantage when it comes to things like that.
I'm (from the sound of your post) just as **** as you are. There's never a speck of dirt on my ride. So when I get it back from the dealer, I really go over the whole thing. When I had my 1000 mile service, whoever worked on it, left the bolt on the air cleaner cover somewhat loose. That was enough to really worry me. Especially considering that they did the tranny recall at the same time. My feeling was that if they left something like that loose, what else did they leave loose. Turns out, after going over every other nut and bolt that I could physically reach, that nothing else was left loose. Still, that bothered me...and now everytime I have work done, I turn into a crazy person. I check the bike up and down. Not to mention, I re-clean it as well (because we all know the bike runs better when it's clean)
Point is, at least if you have a problem, you have a family member that works there...and maybe you can get things done that the average joe can't. Like I said man...consider yourself lucky

FWIW:
Make sure you leave your bike "as is" until the General Mgr or store owner inspects your bike. I know this sounds strange, but are you certain that the bike they gave you is really your Street Bob? I can think of no acceptable reason for an after-service test ride covering 16 miles. About 3-5 miles is all that is needed, given that you simply needed routine servicing done on your bike.

Every dealer I know has an established road course for their techs to use on their test rides, and variations are not authorized. They want the techs in the service bays working on the bikes and not out on some time consuming joy ride disguised as a test ride. Your dealer owes you a full explanation of what happened with your bike; assurance that it won't happen again; and some form of compensation after they thoroughly re-inspect and clean your bike. Finally, get the name of the tech who worked on your bike and never let him touch it again.

Hey all,

My wife is going out tonight with most of the sales Staff from the dealer she works at. She is going to let them know what happened and see what they can find out. Yeah it is cool having the inside scoop on the dealership. So I am sure they will find out what this is all about and I am sure when the manager hears this it will not go unnoticed. I have a good report with the Service Advisor, so I am sure we will find out who took the ride and make sure that person never touches my bike again.

Well, that would **** me off. This kind of thing happened to me on a car once. Warranty work, got it back, smelled like cigarettes, (wife and I don't smoke) and there was trash from McDonald's under the back seat. Wife pitched a real bitch, they detailed it, and gave me a couple of free oil changes.

HIGH COUNTRY HARLEY DAVIDSON FREDRICK, COLORADO

"WORST DEALERSHIP EVER....... Took my bike in for an oil change and requested full synthetic oil, the service counter guy insisted I use HD oil ? this went back and forth until I threatened to take my bike some where else. A few days later went back for starter problems, was very specific as to what I wanted fixed!! I travel around the states for work and had to leave my bike for just over 3 weeks. Got it back with a burnt up back tire and 2000 extra miles. (The back tire had just been replaced prior to the starter issues) It ran like hell going home (just paid over $700 for dyno and computer upgrades) got home to find out a plug wire wasn"t put back on correctly (not sure it was even off ?). Took off to Texas and 30 miles outside Dallas I was left stranded do to "starter problems". When I returned to the dealership it took over a week for someone to get back to me and another two for the owner to respond. I had to call him to be told TOO BAD!... Are you kidding me? The attitude in service is the worst ever seen!! These guys don't care about anyone unless you are in their collective group. Who lets your service guys joy ride your bike? These guys are total losers.....DON'T WAST YOUR TIME OR MONEY! ...................aka RICK FROM OREGON"

Time to feed the troll...

You dredge up a 5 year old thread.

You have a total of 2 posts (both the same).

You pick up your bike and find you have 2000 more miles on it than when you dropped it off for service.

Thanks for my morning entertainment!
