I am installing a PC-V on my 2010 FXDF. I am running into some problems due to lack of space. The ecm /pcv connector will not fit all the way behind the ecm unit, the best I can get it is about 1 inch from the rear cylinder head, Is this too close? Also the PCV unit, does this just sit on top of everything and then the seat goes on? will the pressure from the seat cause damage? I am more concerned about the connectors as I cant find where to zip tie them.
I've put the PCV on my '11, and it was tight, but I didn't have the main harness near the rear cylinder. I have the PCV sitting just behind the sensor that sits on top. It's a tight fit up there, with the stop-turn-run module, but with it just sitting on top, the seat doesn't rub.
I was able to get the connectors all the way behind the ecm so it is now away from the cylinder head. What a PITA, there is no room and the original ecm connector doesnt have much give in it to move, but I was able to get it back there.
I was able to lay the unit on top and the seat goes on but there is a slight wobble in the seat. I will mess with it later to see if I can get it seated better.
I just did this last weekend. the unit itself will sit fine on top, just shove some of the wiring down to make a little space, the seat wont hurt it, there is still a little room.
As far as the rest, it is a tight fit man. I had to take it out and re run it a few times to get it to sit right. you want to avoid having the big connection close to your pipes. A little time and a few zip ties will secure it in place. the instructions tell you to thread it through a specific way, I found I could not make it fit this way. I put the big clip where I wanted it to stay and thread the rest of the harness from there.
Just move things around until you make space, you arent going to hurt anything down there, its just wires.
Having it by the cylinder besides the heat, its a sure way to get water in the connector... I removed the battery box and moved some things around and was able to tuck it under the ECM module...
Do yourself a favor and make sure the unit does not rub any wiring. I have a FXDF and the module rubbed a bundle, and shorted out two wires for the alarm unit, No start. Its gone and I went to a stage one download. Its tight under that seat with the alarm module and a stop turn run module
