Default Motor build Should I ??

Hey, so a buddy of mine recently built up his motor I will post the stats so you guys can give me your opinions if its a good deal or not or lets just say worth it you know.. other option is I was thinking of doing S&S 106 Kit with a set of there Super Stock Headz and Cams on my 09 FB right now all I have is a intake, PC 5 and Short Shots . when I priced everything out I was looking at around $2500 parts for the S&S stuff and cams maybe with gaskets etc etc. I know labor will run me if I have someone do it about anywhere from 8-12 hours..

With my buddies deal I will be getting all the stuff listed plus the labor we will do ourself minus the tune I would get that done. So bascially he would be hooking me up with labor I havent really done motor builds but he has so here is what I would be getting for $2300.

So basically is whether I want to go with off the shelf parts with the S&S kit or with his pretty blown out setup he has 150 miles on his build if that when we dynoed it he saw I think so dont quote me 125HP and about the same TQ if not more..

Hillside cycles stage 4 heads
10.7:1 compression
CCP was at 199 front and rear
1.800 intake ports
2.0 inch intake valves
1.63 inch exhaust valves
40 degree high tulip
kibble white black diamond valves
manual decomp releases
Hillside cycles honed cylinders
Wiseco forged dome top pistons
Bob Woods TW8-6 cams
Barnett clutch pack
Screamin Eagle big twin compensator

For 1,300 you can get the fuelmoto 107" kit which includes the cams (but not headwork)and it dyno's at 105 or so HP, and 115 or so TQ. For just under 2 grand he'll install it and dyno it for you as well. Your friend's kit doesn't sound bad at all, especially with the Hillside ported heads, but dollar for dollar, I'd personally go with a time-tested proven kit.

For that price and those numbers I'd go for it!

You have a great platform and accessories to build on, but you may want to go with a larger throttle body and injectors and also a larger air cleaner like a Wimmer that will fit the Arlen Ness (Stage 1?) set-up you currently have. This will help balance the air in/air out a bit and give you better flow for those larger valves, etc.

Also consider installing an oil cooler for the added heat that you will be generating. Too bad UltraCool doesn't have one of their fan cooled models available yet for Dynas. I gave up waiting for them, ordered a Jagg's, and plan to install a fan kit before summer hits.

That's the route I'm taking, similar to yours, but without the compensator. I'm using a Revolution Performance 107" kit, 625 cams, head work, etc. and will also have about 10.7:1 compression.

If your going for real high power, you need to factor in the bottom end as well....

Are you still thinking of ditching your front brakes and doing a built engine?

Yeah I was gonna send my throttle body out to HPI I was wondering do I have a two piece or a one peice? Also yeah I am def doing a wimmer for more flow I hadnt thought about injectors or an oil cooler but I will now thnks.. So you think should I?? What do you think of the PC 5 should I get rid of it and go with the TTS or a HD Tuner??

Wiseco High comp big bore pistons $250.00 for me its a 95 kit cuz I have a 88 incher.
Cylinder boring $80.00
Cams $250.00
Gaskets Cheap
Labor FREE! I will do it myself.
HP I expect from these parts along with standard mods, air cleaner, tuner I already have, pipes already on my bike. Right around 100HP and 100ft lbs of Tq.
I am cheap and this will get the job done for me. To obtain around 100 HP is fairly cost effective and simple, but anything over that than the cost goes up big time for headwork, valves, crank truing and welding.

Note* If you still wanna ditch your dual brakes I want your lowers, rotors, and calipers!!! Just remember R titled bikes arent worth as much!
You want the Thundermax Tuner.

If youre seriously thinking of a 107 with 10.7:1 compression, I have to echo Vinsil's remarks. You'll be asking a lot from a weak bottom end. If you dont know how to sing the blues now, You'd better learn.
