The issue is that on the superglide there is a 35 degree angle on the speedo mount. I know, I had a superglide and wanted to change the bars. so I did a lot of research. I found that drag specialties has a flat mount that mounts as a top clamp to the risers. You can get it for a single or dual guage. It is a stock looking very clean set up. it retails for about $190.00 and you can order it from your local harley parts guy. I will try to get the part number from my other computer ( I have it saved there) later today.
I ordered 3.5" straight risers a couple of days ago. These should get around 2" up .... gonna try them with the bars set on the same angle as the rake and see if I like. I'll let everyone know how it turns out .... will try and get some pics up as well.
I put a set of 3 1/2 in pullbacks on my bike and had the speedo standing up too straight, so I mounted the speedo to the headlight visor. The holes on the speedo bracket line up perfectly with the holes on the visor. I did have to make a set of small risors to keep the speedo from touching the headlight visor. I just drilled a hole through 2 pieces of stainless tubular steel and got longer bolts. It looks nice and I can read the speedo perfectly.
Yeah the selections for the FXD is pretty limited with the speedo being on the bars. I ordered the bars, tach and complete mounts that are on the new CVO Dyna. I like the look of that setup the best of any of the Dynas that I have seen and it should be fairly easy to install. Another option would be,... is just get a set of bars with the standard pull back risers built in and then get one of the 04 Dyna flat gauge brackets and attach it to an accutronix mount. That would then put the speedo back in the correct angle.
