Default Fat Bob Tank on Super Glide

Hi guys,
I have a chance of buying a new Fat Bob 2008 tank (61707-08BYM).
I want to put it on my 2007 Super Glide so I can move my speedo off the bars.
I know Ill need to buy a different sized speedo. However I have a couple of questions:

1. Will the fat bob tank bolt onto my super glide with no issues?
2. I realize I will have to buy new tank trim, but what about the fuel pump and other pieces (e.g. quick detach fuel line) - can I reuse my super glide pieces or am I looking at spending a lot of cash to buy new parts for this fat bob tank?

Thanks guys!

Yes the tank will bolt up fine and all the internal parts (fuel pump etc.) will swap over as well.

Parts still add up in a hurry.

Speedo
Dash and trim
Top Plate/seal and new bolts
Switch
Fatbob/SGC wiring harness ( you could maybe splice new dummy lights in but replacing the harness is the easiest route)
Fuel gauge and gas cap
few odd bolts

Think that is it

Even a LR/SB tank will require all these parts as well (except speedo) so the only additional cost of going with the bigger tank is the speedo.

Thanks BB,
I thought the Street bob had a different sized speedo than the FXD?
Also, you wouldnt happen to know what the extra spicket line sticking out the bottom of the Street bob/fat bob tank is for (FXD doesnt have it). Looking at the parts diagram, Im guessing its for the vacum line? If so, that seems like it would be a real hassle to instal.
Did you do the fat bob tank swap or street bob?
Cheers.

SB and LR use the same size speedo. I have a LR tank on my FXD and used my stock speedo.

The tube you are talking about is were the fuel gauge wire comes through the tank.

Thanks BB. I think Ill go with a LR or SB tank on mine. I think Id like to keep the speedo. Plus the switch on the Fat Bob - not sure if that would be a pain to hook up on my FXD. By the way, for my 2007 FXD, do you know off hand what other tanks will fit my bike/speedo (I know the SB, and FXDLR will).
Thanks for the great info - saved me the hassle of buying the Fat Bob tank and having to buy a new speedo!

Street Bob, Low Rider, 08 FXDSE, and 2010 up WG (not the older WG's) all use the same tank.

I went with the 08 FXDSE/10 WG dash on my LR tank so I could still move the switch to the dash. This is my favorite thing from the swap and isnt hard to do. Just a matter of unplugging a wiring harness from the neck and extending 3 wires so it will reach the dash.

Hey, you got me thinking now! Probably a dumb question - Im not familiar with the softails type tank switches - looks like it would be an easy job to run the wires from the neck of the harness and extend them to the tank ignition switch. But, what happens to the old neck ignition switch? Do you have to install a new steering lock only switch? Or do you leave the original ignition switch in the neck and use it for a the steering lock only?

I think Ill go with the standard Fat Bob console and buy the larger speedo. The FXD speedo (even if I could get it to fit) probably would look a little small on that fat tank.

It will cost a bit of cash, but thats honestly why i bought an FXD - wasnt sure what I really wanted so decided to buy the cheap model and spend the savings on mods.

I know this has been talked about before, and appreciate you repeating whats probably been said.

Cheers!

P.S. just before I buy this tank, just want to be sure I understand what Im doing.
The tank Im buying is a Fat Bob black denim job:
Part Number: 61707-08BYM Painted Part
Part Number: 61586-04B Primed Part

So, if I get this tank it will bolt right on my FXD and: I can use my same fuel guage, will need to buy a larger speedo, will need to buy new console and other bits and pieces, can still use my fuel pump and tank "innards", will need to extend my ignition wires, and will need to synch up my steering lock and ignition keys.

Does that sort of sum it up???

Pretty much but fuel gauge won't work on new tank.

No need to do anything else with neck switch. It will still work for the fork lock as is. I did replace the trim piece on it to get rid of (ignition) off of it.
You can get a switch keyed to your bike for around $100 or just a switch with keys a lit cheaper and just have a different key for the fork lock.

Thanks again BB.
Now I think about it, basically I am replacing EVERYTHING except the fuel pump assembly! So, Im thinking I might as well just leave the FXD tank completely intact and sell it as a whole unit. Should be quite useful to someone knowing it has all the fittings and is ready to go. Should be able to make the extra money back on the fuel pump and have a new one to boot.
Well, i just bought the new fat bob tank (black denim) on ebay. So, im committed to this project!!!!
