When I purchased my fxd it came with forward controls. I did the mid Controls conversation and when I got to the last piece to complete my puzzle “inspection cover” would not fit over the shift shaft almost like the shift shaft was off center a bit. Has any one had this issue? Please help . This is without the cover And this is the cover not fitting
The newer twin cams don't have the inspection cover so thats probably not his problem. Sorry to the op since I'm not any more help than that...im sure you'll get an answer very soon
Looks like you have the wrong one. You need 60529-90A or equivalent. Maybe that one is from a softail which has a different primary...Whatever it is, it's not the right one.
Thank you all for the feed back I’m going to hit the dealership today and check out a different cover and see if this will fix the problem. I will post pics when it is completed with before and after . Thank you we have a strong community here !!

Would you know if a fxd outer primary would fit a softail inner primary? Reason I ask is I wonder if the previous owner changed the inner primary for the forward controls or whatever it might have been and this is the reason the shift shaft is slightly coming out the primary lower than it should be?
I have a 2000 FXDX. It looks like its the same type of cover, as the one on your picture.

I am not sure, but i don't think so
What i would do is look for cast mark/part No. on the inner and outer primary cover. Most likely something like: "XXXXXX-YY"
