Use a piece of 2 foot long rebar and a hammer and knock out the plug or knock it to the side. You'll keep your back pressure and it will be a little louder. The dealers used to do this before the government stepped in!

Yeah I noticed that today. I went to look for a screw or something but couldnt find one. I figure either way I am going to change the pipes to make it louder. I don't have the money for V&H pipes right now but as a quick fix to the quiet problem figured I could just punch out the baffles. Mine are all scraped on the bottom cause I like to take turns hard...Harleys are meant to be loud and mine just isnt...yet...

Sounds like a great idea. I think I will do just that. I am going to record before and after to hear the difference. If I can I will post it on here as a video or something. Thanks.

I used the handle end of a long pry bar. You have to remove the muffler to do it. The sound is a little louder but still deep. I did notice a slight increase in fuel mileage. About 20 miles more between fill ups. That's 4-5 mpg more. When I changed my air intake it definitely got too lean so I installed a PCIII. It runs very well now and I'm still getting 42 mpg avg. I'm pleased with it and don't see myself changing it out. My buddy has the same bike with some V&H short shots. It really looks good but for my 25 mile commute to work plus all the other riding around I do that would get old quick. I used to have a Fat Boy with a Thunder Header and although it sounded great I found myself commuting on my other bike because the noise was just a pain in the ****.

I think you'll like it! If you want real loud then you need to change the system. But you'll have a nice throaty growl!

I did mine right on the bike! But I do advise using a 2 or 3 pound mallet or sledge and like you said a pry bar handle or anything that is long enough and strong enough. A couple of good smacks and you have the Harley sound!

Did it on my 05 Sportster...1-3/4" good quality hole saw ...electric corder drill slow speed so you don't burn chrome....sounds good...Might hurt the performance a little bit but will sound good and your ECM will adjust but if you do a air cleaner i would call fuel moto and get the PCIII for $239. pre mapped...

I have V & H Longshots. Took the baffles out before a ride one night, just to see how it changed performance and sound. Sound wise, it was painful. Performance wise, I didn't notice any difference. I put them back in halfway through the ride.

You mean you took the baffles with you, then stopped and let the bike cool to touch (at least 30 min). Reinstalled the baffles, just to turn around and head back home?
It must have been real painful (sound wise).. Good thing you took the baffles with ya..

Just messin with ya..
