I need to put a bigger sissy bar on my 2010 fxdwg. It must have a pad and offer support to a passenger. I would also like it to look good and i like the Old School style but am not sure if they are really functional for a passenger or not. Parts guy at HD tells me no, but hes looking for a quick sale on the MedLow style...
I ran the Khromeworks style. Looks the best IMHO, but I had a serious issue with it. If the wife leaned back too hard on the thing, the sissy bar pad would push threw the sissy bar and start to pop out of the back. I tried everything to fix this problem because I liked it so much. Nothing worked. Eventually I had to go with a different sissy bar all together. I could NOT recommend the round stock style bar to anyone who runs a passenger.
Is that Kromewerks one detachable? Do either of you guys have any feedback from passengers?
The bar itself works with HD style side plates, so you can do a rigid mount or detachable.
As for the pad, ol lady says its comfy but we also have had some problems with it not staying on the bar. Tweaked the mounting plate on the pad a few times and it seems to be good now. I believe www.phatperformanceparts.com has the best price on the bar.
