I have actually strapped a duffel across my apes and it works fine. I use Bungee Bitch Straps - soft bungee straps so there is no chance of scratching.

this is what me and the wife use leatherpros detachable saddle bags, tourmaster sissy bar bag, i have a 4 person tent and air mattress and couple blanks also plus clothes for the weekend and even a hair dryer for the wife

Cheers for the replies, as said throwovers are out due to my side mount unfortunately.

dreamer65 is on the money, ordered an 80 litre dry sack to strap on the front, that'll be plenty!
That's where I usually strap the tent anyway...
