I'm going saturday to look at a 99 FXDX. Here's what I know about the bike. 24,000 miles, all stock, all original, there is no DMV info on the bike after 2003. the owner said it has never been hit or down. buy it now price is $7500. what if any issues can I expect to deal with in the near future? I'm going to offer 7 cash, take it or leave it, any thoughts? THANX in advance.
N.A.D.A. lists average retail at 5730. Thats average, not a price carved in stone, so take it for what its worth. Remember its a buyers market. Good luck with whatever you decide.
i wouldnt give $7k for it better shop around a little like the other post said $5730 book might offer $5500 or $6000 but that'd be my limit offer it and if he says no walk away theres more than one good bike out there reasonable
Those earlier FXDXs are a cut above the 'normal' FX models. Should have twin front discs and adjustable suspension front and rear, so if it still has those it is a worthwhile purchase. If you intend cutting it about or slamming it leave it for someone who will enjoy it for what it is and look for another model!
Don't forget about the bearing issues on the '99 on the cams. HD changed to a roller on the rear cam due to bearing failure of the ball bearing on earlier models.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand. What do you mean there is no DMV info on the bike after 2003?
Other than that, like others have already said, $7500 seems very overpriced...especially in this economy. If the NADA price is $5700 and change, offer $5500 and remind the owner that's it's not 2005 anymore. If he insists on $7000-7500, then he has unrealistic expectations. Walk away, and find another bike with an owner that's not living in la la land.
