Default Powder Coat Rookie

I am trying to finalize my first round of winter mods on my 2002 Super Glide (will post a final list once it is all said and done) and have a few chrome parts that were removed in the process. I would like to have them powder coated gloss black, but I am not real sure what a good deal would be. I took the parts listed below to a local shop and was quoted $300. With my lack of knowledge on the subject I thought it was a little pricey and walked away from it. Would anyone want to take a second and let me know if I made the right call or should I go back and hope he quotes the same price?

Battery Box
Upper and Lower Belt guards
Electrical Panel Cover
Ignition Module Cover

very pricey. I had entire wheels coated for $125 each. I had about 20 parts done that included an upper belt guard and the fuse panel cover, battery tray, etc. and the whole tab was about $600.

Don't know if you have the space or not but you may consider the DIY route. Several companies make the kits and even youtube has a video on how to build a powder coating system. It seeems most guys use a retired household oven which is big enough to hold a V8 valve cover. Here is one site that will get you started on the research . http://www.harborfreight.com/10-30-p...tem-94244.html

Don't forget to ask Joe, the Powder Coat Guy. He's a site sponsor. Several members rave about his work.

I agree and I am sure it won't take long before he chimes in on this.
