the parts guy at my dealer mentioned a hacksaw that is like a rope, that you could use the cut the lever off from the behind the inner primary cover and then pull the rod. some one here said they did this with a reg blade, but that would take a while
I understand that there is a plug that fits on the outside of the primary, is there also aplug that goes on the inside?
I want to put some forward controls on my Street Bob. I don't want to have to remove the primary to remove the shift shaft, don't want to leave it in place behind a bolt like I've seen.
Has anyone cut their shift shaft to romove it, with out damaging anything, is this possible?
Do you really want to take a saw to a $15,000 motorcycle? Have the dealership put your forward controls on and they will remove the shaft they way it should be removed, by removing the inner primary cover. It is the only way to do the job correctly, you take a saw to your bike and screw it up your gonna pay for it to be fixed. Just have the job done right the first time, if the dealer screws somethinig up then they have to fix it.

That's for sure.... Why pay twice as much to have the hd shop fix your screw ups and install the controls or shaft, just pay them to do the controls or remove the shaft from the start! I wouldn't attempt to saw anything on my bike!!

Thanks!
Riffleboy did. You tape everything off and use a taped up hacksaw blade and take your time by hand it works.
You only need the plug out side. Or get the chrome WG primary cover.
