I think it would be a lateral move. You might be giving up a little bit of comfort for a little bit of style (and paying a nice chunk of change to do it). Sure, a new Bob will give you a 96" instead of an 88" too.....but you could also get a 96" or 103" with a new softie or touring model too.
I do ride 2-up on my 09 Street Bob and it does fine. I'm 155 and the old lady is 125....so we don't bog it down at all.
If you want one, get one....they are the best (I'm biased of course). Oh, look used first. I save $3,500 when I got mine used over a year ago.
Ultimately, I think the best plan is to own two. A Street Bob and a Street Glide, IMO. That's the best setup. I just need to convince the wife I "need" another one (won't be doing that for another 7-10 years - so I have time to lay the groud work).

It must be tempting. I bought a 2010 Wide Glide and love it but that Street Bob just keeps growing on me like a fungus. If you've got the disease and it's in your head you're probably going to buy it anyway.
I'm just guessing here but I'm willing to bet if you figured out down to the penny what the trade in would cost you, you could probably buy a sweet slightly used Dyna and have both for less money. Remember, Dyna's are the cheapest big twins and resale is in the pooper. Craploads of used Dyna's for cheap.

The Heritage is just too good of an all-around, big bike to let go, not to mention the fact that the wife would pitch a fit if I let it go. Good Choice. I plan on on buying a touring model in 2 years. My Street Bob is paid off and I'm putting away a bike payment every month right now so in 2 years when I head back to the states I can either buy a new bike outright or have a damn good down payment on one. My Dyna is OK for 2 up riding, but 75% of my riding is by myself and I'm OK with that. The wife loves to ride, and is willing to let me get a touring rig for comfort.

If she is going to pitch a fit on both options sounds like the second bike is perfect!
Looks like your decision is made...but I'd agree with lateral move for ya. I'm usually 205-215 pounds, wife is in high 130 - mid 140 range depending upon time of year. My FXDB handles us both well. Heck..you see pees ride 2 up on Sportys sometimes.
I went from a night train to a fat bob. I do some two up riding with the wife and the fat bob is more confortable for both solo and two up riding. (I'm 190, she's 110) The suspension is better (softer) and the fatter tires make for a more comfortable ride. Seats are more or less the same and can be changed so that's not an issue.
Going from a Heritage to a Street Bob is not similar to what I did above, and I think that you would be trading away comfort and convenience, so keeping it is the right choice.
I left the 06 wideglide I still love for my ultra, beacause I do alot of two up riding. At me at 220 nad wife at 145, we need comfort and power. If my ultra was not such a good deal when I bought it, heritage classic was my next choice. You can do two up on the dyna series, but why, if you have a choice?
