thats a perfect representation of what I was talking about in my original post...... you can still see tire between the fender and the rim on the pic of the stock shocks and lowering kit but with the 11" 412s you cant even see the rim....... its quite a difference really.

LOL No I don't ride over speed bumps all that often but I live in South Florida where the road construction is so bad that I might as well be. I got sent flying about 3 feet off my Shovelhead just riding across a seam in the highway. Granted the Shovel is a hardtail but I damn near got the front end pulled out from under me hitting one at a slant on the Dyna too. So, bottoming out is definitely something I need to consider. Especially since I bought this bike so that I would be able to ride more comfortably on long rides.
By looking at Sumpnut's pics I think the 11" would probably do the best. Do I have to lower my front end too or can I just lower the rear?

This is the side what worried me most--only 60mm clearance unloaded, just under 2˝" but I got mine set on 2 and have ridden with passenger and luggage..no probs to date..

That should work for me. I don't ever carry passengers and I don't think I could or would pack enough stuff in my bags or strapped to the back that it would weigh that much. Did you lower the front end too or just the rear?

When I installed my black shocks I left off the chrome bolt collars entirely, and thought it greatly improved the look, exposed stud mount and all.

It's up to you - lots of folks claim to have done it and not noticed any difference but in my experience if you lower the rear and not the front; not only does it look goofy but it definitely alters the handling for the worse. I found when I tried that on my old sportster it really wanted to stand up in the corners.... I could ride it fine but there was noticably more effort involved in keeping the bike on it's line in the corners.... I was never really comfortable on that bike until I lowered the front too - then problem solved. I would always do the front too if you are going to lower the rear.
