Cool. I used Hot Rod Flatz copper pearl on my gas tank. Good paint.
.
And you bike looks bad ***! I saw you bike during my searching on here. It almost made me want to use that color to do black with a copper strip down each side. Since I have never painted before I figure I will just do black for now.

Thanks. I'm thinking about doing my fenders, I got plenty of paint left. This paint covers good too. I just scuffed the tank and wiped it down after taping off and it turned out good.
That's funny, I just found this thread and your other one about colors. I got this Dyna last year on a trade and I love it. The color had to go. Im also doing a flat black with some pinstripping later. I am painting my 97 Dyna right now for almost the same reasons! haha "> "> ">
Sorry for the crappy Iphone pics. I have been sanding for days!Mostly getting the pinstripes and decals flat.

Reason: double pic post!
I'm just going to scuff it. I'm thinking hit it with 800 grit wet then clean up with alcohol before paint. I really excited to see how this will turn out but I want to take my time and do it right.
Little trick I learned many years ago, do your self a big favor and go to the local auto paint supply house and buy some Prepsol.. First wash your tins with soap and hot water then wipe your tins down with the Perpsol before you start any scuffing or sanding, it will remove any wax or polish from the paints surface.. You don't want to grind it (wax) into your paint..
Good luck on your paint work...
Some update pics.. Got most of it wet sanded. Getting the decals to blend to the tank was a PITA so we ended up just removing them. I hit all the pinstripes and everywhere the two colors meet with some wet 230 to blend it then followed that with 800. Smooth as silk now you cant even feel the line any more.
Everything was going good. We took a break to make the kids lunch and left the tank on its side on the table. About 5 minutes later we returned to find it fell off the table and this happened!
Not sure what I am going to do now. I'm going to try and pull it tomorrow. Any body guys here have a trick for me? I really dont want to fill it with bondo!
Doing a great job with your tins (bummer about the tank) your going to need a little bondo anyway after you push the dent the best you can .
Also after looking at your pics with most of the prep work done I highly recomend you prime your work I counted quite a few layers of blue and clear on your tank ... it seriously needs to be sealed with primer ... anyway good luck ..its going to look great

I liked your tins before but My bike's black and I love it like that. Man, that's bad luck about the dent. There are plenty of people around that can probably pull it out for you. If not all of it, the majority. I'd have a look on-line in your area. You're due for some good luck now. Lookin forward to see how it turns out.
