Default PROJECT: Black Glide!

It has started! I was never happy with with the color of my wide glide. While it looks nice, the colors are just not my cup of tea. So after much debate I decided to paint it black. Hot Rod Flatz black to be exact. After I started the thread Painting tins, DIY or not, https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...-or-not-6.html I was motivated by the advice i got to go ahead and give it a shot. So tonight it started. Here are the progress pics so far.

Before:

as it sits now:

and what I'm going to paint it with:

Tomorrow I start prep on the tins and maybe paint tomorrow or Sunday. Any advice before I start painting?

I am interested to see the finished product. Put some progress pictures up as you get further into the job.

Cool. I used Hot Rod Flatz copper pearl on my gas tank. Good paint.

Are you just "scuffing" the paint, or taking them down to bare metal?

Hey, Marine!
Very nice bike - looking forward to seeing how you progress with your paint job. As others have said: careful prep, patience, and a dustless drying/bake booth for your new paint to cure/harden should yield super results. Good luck!

I'm just going to scuff it. I'm thinking hit it with 800 grit wet then clean up with alcohol before paint. I really excited to see how this will turn out but I want to take my time and do it right.
