As you say it is a tight fit. I wanted mine at the top facing me so any adjustments were easy and it would be well out of the way of any water, dirt. To help matters i cut all the tie wraps and plastic locators that hold all the electrical components. this let me move things around and create space for the PC111 at the top, lying flat facing me. As i said a little fiddley but it will go, a big dose of patience/beer also helps.

take the battery and box out.. it will help ALOT
mine is located where the factory security module goes, i fought it all night trying to get it into place.. next night took the battery out and it worked much better. the junction is where you'll have the most problem. mine is zip tied to the front edge of the square backbone that runs bahind the rear exhaust pipe. 3500+ miles with no issues. had it programmed by fuelmoto before install, so saw no need for accessibilty as i won't be changing it until after bikes out of warranty

Mine's under the seat. I had it behind the electrical caddy, but my indie put it under the seat. I'm going to leave it there.
