My '06 WideGlide will not start. It cranks, gets fuel, but will not start. Was stored for 3 months, started fine when I put it in winter storage. Fuel was winterized, battery was left out of the bike on a trickle charger. Reinstalled the fully charged battery, but doesn't seem to get spark. Any help is appreciated.
How did you check for spark?
If the battery is not putting out at least 12v, the ECM will not allow it to start. At 11.9v it kills the coil. Did you check all fuses?
Had the Battery on charge and out of the the bike for 4 to 5 mouths
I did notice that after 15 to 30 sec Battery is low after trying to start
I used a spark plug teaster at the wire hook up to a ground saw no spark held the wire in my hand got no shock so must be no spark
And it was on a slow amp trickel charger and yes it the battery that came with the bike in 2006 and last after winter storge i had a hard time starting the bike a few times maybe it is time for a new battery if its down to 11.5 or less in a few sec
Does this low voltage cut off of the coil work the same on older bikes? I've got a 1998 Wide Glide and have the same problem. Turns over, gets gas, no spark.
Thanks for your input. The weather is too nice to have it sitting with the seat off.
Ah, missed by a hair. Thanks again. I'm recharging the battery just to be sure. Assuming that at full tilt 12-volt boogy it still won't start. Is there a way to determine if it is a coil or ignition module issue?
