I just put a new coil on my FXDC as it had BAD decel pop and killed when leaving the interstate and slowing down normally and using downshifting when approaching the intersection to get slowed down. Checked plugs, wire continuity. etc and the rear cylinder was just blowin' cool air even though it smoothed out when I connected the rear wire. Replaced coil and for a short time did the same thing. Had an open stretch of interstate yesterday afternoon and blasted off until I reached 105 MPH in 6th for a few seconds. Hadn't had the problem since. Think I just threw $96 bucks on a coil? Could not think of anything else to isolate the problem. BTW running PCIII with V&H Slip-Ons.
Could've been just a little piece of crud or carbon causing your problems till you blew it out. I fought a miss in my dad's S10 years ago. Replaced plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, and still couldn't get rid of it. Got pi$$ed off and revved the motor 4 or 5 times way high and it cleared up.
Can't say for sure on the new ones, but I can say that on older bikes (and cars) with a carb sometimes running it hard can cure many ills. I ran the heck out of the old Fatboy I'm working on this past weekend (several sustained full-throttle blasts over 100), and it's now idling and running better than ever. That Evo is getting its mojo back.
I have a feeling it's good for any engine to get pushed fairly regularly.
a harley is suposed to have decell pop..its not a honda or a chevy..only way to stop it is pull the clutch when not on the throttle like it has an automatic trans,or put restrictive mufflers on it..

My bike always runs and idles better after a slobber slinging run!
