i powder caoted all mine... but you can also use hot toppers, black automotive touch up paint works great and holds up awesome... but in the long run... you know me, powder is the way to go
If you paint them..either using automotive touch up paint or epoxy... what prep do you do to the bolt heads? anything? Even dumber question... do you pull them out one at a time or just paint them where they stand?

bar b q paint will nto hold up... it cures at temp and without that it will not cure and they will chip and not last...
for prep i blast them... but i have just wiped down with denatured alch. and painted them right on the bike with touch up paint... works great and holds up!
I use Testor model paint most of the time and have had good luck with it. It has held up in the heat of the bike and being outside in the elemnets. I've used it on bolts all over my bike. Some I have painted after I took them off. Others I painted right on the bike depending on where they are and what I had to do to them. You can get primer in the model paint, as well as flat and gloss black and alot of other colors too. If you get to know a local auto painter too, they can match colors and textures for you in small quantities and give or sell them to you. Auto paint holds up well too.
