By smoothest are you asking suspension wise or engine vibration wise?

Coming from 10 years on a softail to my wide glide I would say the softail has a smoother ride, hands down. I don't regret my change though.

Having owned both, I would have to say the Softail is smoother riding and better handling. In order to get the Dyna to ride as smooth and handle as well as the Softail money has to be spent on it. Stock for stock, the Softail, hands down. That goes for smooth riding and curves. You have to remember. The Dyna's swingarm is mounted to a rubber mounted engine and tranny, therefore you get lots of flex in the curves. The Softail's swingarm is mounted to the frame which helps it track through the curve a lot better and more stable.

I was just going on what my ride does and what I see my brothers do on the same ride, as posted above mine is a WG his is a Fatboy Lo the dyna does move in the rear due to the angle on the shocks being different slightly, (in relation to the ground and the tire) mounted the same but different forces on each shock,
