Default Gold alloy wheels

I've seen a pair of gold alloy wheels on e.bay that I'm interested in buying, which look in really good condition. They're 19 x 2.15 front and 16 x 3 rear which I'm pretty sure are the same size as my 2002 Dyna Low spoked wheels. From the photos the fron looks like it has 3/4" bearings fitted but the rear has no bearings

Thing is I've been in touch with the guy who's selling them to find out how old they are but he doesn't know as he bought them on a whim for a project that never got started.

I know this may be a long shot but does anyone know if the gold alloy wheels were fitted to any particular year of Dyna or Sporty? They ain't cheap as he's started them off high but I don't want to be paying a fortune for old wheels

Any help would be appreciated

The 2003 Anniversary Edition bikes had gold rims. Maybe you could post a link and someone could verify.

Good idea, as long as nobody jumps in before me and gets them - or bumps the price up

Promise?

Ok then:

I only want to change them because I've got a couple of little trips planned this year and getting a puncture in the spoked wheels is a bit of a worry. At least the solids, with having tubeless tyres can be repaired at the roads side to get me home........ That and the fact that powder coated black the look the dog's nutz on my Dyna

I'm 99% sure those are from a 2003 Anniversary Edition Dyna. Seems a shame to powdercoat them black but I suppose they aren't that rare.....and gold wouldn't work so well with your bike anyway.

I know what you mean, and it does seem a shame but these don't come up too often this side of the "pond". If I do get them I'll leave the polished alloy as is and either coat or 2 x pack paint the gold bits black.

Ta for the info - much appreciated

Just looking at the size of these, the spoked wheels on my bike at present are 2.50 x 19 these are 2.15 x19. Are the alloys narrower than the spoked wheels or are these from an earlier year?

Contact your dealer parts guy. He might be able to help. Also, ask the seller for any numbers that may be stamped on them. If they are off a 2003 they should fit your bike but be sure. BTW, be sure to use a new axle kit for both.

After mucho interweb surfing, it seems that these are def from an earlier pre '99 bike - well the front is anyway. Pre 99 bikes used 2.15 wide laced and alloy front wheels after that it looks like they were changed to 2.50. I've just read somewhere that the 11" brake rotors won't fit the earlier wheels which had th 10" ones. I'll give these a miss I think as there are just too many unknowns to be parting with any amount of cash. Something more suitable will no doubt turn up soon

Derv, I'm almost a 100% sure these are 2003 Anniversary Dyna Low Rider wheels.

I'm not that sure Phil, it's the 2.15 rim width that bothers me, the 100/90 tyre will onlly just go on there. Thing is the guy lives too far away from here (480 mile round trip) for me to go look at them. I don't want to be saddled with them if the front one won't fit. Also with it being a twin disc wheel (mine's single) there will probably be spacer issues as well. Seems a lot of ifs and maybes for comfort so as I say I'll leave them alone. If he could have told me what year bike they were off I'd have felt easier about it.
