mounted mine on the frame in front of the motor. no problems

I hated how mine looked mounted anywhere but hidden down on the chin where it lives now.

Your solo bag will scuff the fender strut cover, swingarm, and the shock unless you protect them with something. Mine did in a very short time. I'll paint my stuff one of these days but write it off to normal wear and tear for now.

Same here, but when I doo run it I wrap black electrical tape around the frame cause it was dulling the finish a bit. Works great, but it is harder to get into down there

You would;nt think that leather would do that but the same thing happened to my light and forks,this time on my train im putting it on the swingarm after i tape it

I put mine on the back of my backrest and it doesn't come close to my paint. Or if I'm riding solo I just turn it around and let it sit on the seat like it is in my pic below. Problem solved....
